Remember the Mountain

Recently while driving through a familiar section of the Rocky Mountains, I set my phone up to take a time lapse video. My dad and I had driven that same stretch years before and I wanted to share the winding road and breathtaking landscape with him. While my phone was recording, I could almost hear my dad say in excitement, "I remember that mountain!". Instantly, that phrase stuck with me. I imagined Abraham and Isaac saying those same words years after God provided the substitute sacrifice on Mount Moriah. Scenes from John Bunyan's 'Pilgrim's Progress' played in my head as the character's ascended into Delectable Mountains. I recalled Psalm 24 which asks, "Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place".

Over the following few days I composed this song, which centers around Christ and helps us remember Mount Calvary where he bore our insurmountable burden of sin.
