He Gives Me Breath

                                                         I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy.
                                                 Because He inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
Psalm 116:1-2

The testimony that this passage conveys was the launching pad for this song. I wanted to communicate the sense of need that is true of all people in a fallen world and highlight the generous grace of God. When all we deserve is judgement, He offers forgiveness in Christ. When all our good works are as filthy rags, He offers Christ's own righteousness. We only love God because He first loved us. 

At the end of each verse, we respond to what we just sang with the conclusion of the passage above: "so I will call on Him as long as He gives me breath". This is both a witness to those around us, and a reminder to ourselves.
